DESCRIPTION:

On this original linen-backed lithograph from 1888, J. A. McWhinnie and W. E. Leigh patented means for displaying and storing velvets and like articles. Boxes, which are preferably of millboard with wooden ends and covered with paper, have the lids hinged to the sides, which are hinged to the bottom, so that, when opened for displaying the contents, the lids can be folded under the bottom or to the sides.

DESCRIPTION:

On this original linen-backed lithograph from 1888, Cross, E. A., and Noble, H. B., patented a sale apparatus. The articles are stored in a container pivoted at the top on a crossbar and divided into a series of compartments, one of which always above the delivery device. The articles are delivered first from the front compartment, and when this is an empty weight, it strikes a catch which previously held the container in this position. The articles are then delivered by the rotation of the device under the weight of the articles themselves. Arrangements may also be made for delivering two articles at a time, or one for a halfpenny and two for a penny.

DESCRIPTION:

On this original linen-backed lithograph from 1888, P. Baschwitz patented lay-figure stand. For this invention, a rigid base is attached to an elastic bag or receptacle having a tube through which it can be inflated, when the receptacle is inflated, the tube is closed by a valve. A fitting corset of flexible non-elastic material is secured over the bag before the latter is expanded, being attached to the base by loops and studs.
